Sunday School 2008-2009

West Valley Unitarian Universalist Church is a place where children:

As Unitarians, we affirm and promote:

In order to live these principles, children must learn empathy for and understanding of people from many different cultures. This school year, West Valley children will be learning about how people live all over the world.

Blue Jays (grades K - 2) will focus on the culture of children around the world. They'll celebrate holidays, learn games, make crafts and food and listen to the stories children in Botswana or China or Mexico might know.

Eagles (grades 3 - 5) will learn about the cultures of other countries, too, - but they will also have an introduction to many of the religious traditions in different parts of the world. To supplement their studies, parents are encouraged to use the book One World, Many Religions by Mary Pope Osborne. This book can be obtained through our church, at Amazon.com and through the public library.

Both of these groups meet during the church service.

Middle School/ Jr Hi Students will meet twice a month to study seven different religions, and then, approximately once a month, they will visit a different house of worship. They will use World Religions: The Great Faiths Explored and Explained by John Bowker as their reference text.

We will also have childcare for preschoolers during church services.
