Days of Awe

Pastor Terry Robinson blessed the apples and challah at the entry table for this very special service the middle of October. Christian, Ryan and Dylan presided over the table, wishing each of us "Shana Tova" - Happy New Year!

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Blue Jays learned many forms of prayer this month and have practiced blessings at meal time. They learned that in the Genesis story of creation, God created the heavens and earth
and saw that it was good.

Eagles are learning about famous Unitarians and the principles they followed. This month, they studied the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Jell-O of Peter Cooper! Cooper was also a philanthropist who said "The object of life is to do good."  We talked about what that meant and what he gave back to the community.

Older kids are getting an introduction to psychology. Next week, they'll hear about Jung.

Annual Wine Tasting Tours France
(in One Evening)

Every year, Sandra and Barry offer a wine tasting party at our silent auction. And each year, those who attend learn a great deal about wine from somewhere in the world. They've sipped their way through Italy, Germany, and France and may tackle Chile or Australia next year.

Note who's getting really smart this year.

Arizona Interfaith Movement

Last April, our church joined the Arizona Interfaith Movement, which holds events all year promoting understanding between different faith groups across the valley.

In October, they hosted their annual dinner, where the Sikh community provided food for 300+ participants. We then broke into groups of eight or so and got to know a little bit about what each person thought was most important about their religion.

On 11/20, Interfaith will host a free forum on the topic of Fasting, discussed from the viewpoint of four different faith groups. For more information, call Interfaith at 602-277-2484… Or ask Kathy Abramowitz at church.

Trick or Treat!

This year, Deb and Tim Richard took charge of the annual WVUU Halloween Party. It was a monster success, with lots and lots of children and grown-ups making merry on a dark and spooky night.
