Time flies when you're having fun. It has now been two years since I was called to the pulpit of the West Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. Most people know that this has only been a quarter-time appointment, but it was specifically designated as the job of "parish minister" rather than a consultant or guest lecturer. It is hard to attend to the many jobs of a true parish minister at one quarter of the time. So the Board of Trustees and I have agreed upon an interim contract that will continue that status only through the summer months and that I will become the half-time minister beginning on September 1st of this year.

I am looking into housing in the valley for my part-time job, so that the kind of weather that has snowed me into and out of Flagstaff will not cause me undue anxiety. There is no time-table for further increasing my hours as the years go by. It will be up to the congregation in its long-term planning whether if feels there is a need for more minister hours. I can be content with half-time, if that fits the church's perception of how it wishes to govern itself.
