I have quite recently made a decision to request a leave of absence from the pulpit, so that I can take care of some medical business. I am still committed to being the minister of the West Valley church, but I believe I have pretty much ended my teaching career in Tuba City. Hopefully I will work out some way in which I can continue with a community ministry to the Navajo Nation, but it's not going to be teaching five courses each semester. It's going to be volunteer work that is fun and energizing, not exhausting. I also need a temporary rest from my church duties. I have asked the Board of Trustees to approve my emergency request for at least two months leave of absence. I am confident that the considerable talent within the congregation, plus the ability of the Sunday Services Committee to come up with intriguing speakers, will see us through this absence of myself from the pulpit. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, and I appreciate the kind words sent in my direction. Blessings, John |

Can you feel IT? I can feel IT! “What is IT”? you say. Now that is the hard part. Some of us attended workshops provided by the PSWD over the past few years. During them, I kept hearing that physical growth was not enough. That the physical growth had to be accompanied by changes from within to sustain that growth. I think what I am feeling is an excitement brought on by an involvement due to growth. Most all of our people are happy and involved . Trying to make things better for ourselves, our buildings, our programs. I can feel IT, this Excitement is in the way people are doing their jobs. Striving to improve ways to welcome new members, interest in the kids program, forum for adults, making the R E space more attractive and usable, forming an Ad Hoc committee to study new By-laws to help make our transition due to growth a smooth one. The reception and action when new ideas are put for- ward, and the extra effort to coordinate with each other. Yes that is IT, The excitement I feel about our growth and involvement. I thank all of you and hope you can feel it too. Barbara K. {Pres.} |
