One year
finishes And
another year starts As the school year drew to a close, Kathy and several parents got together to plan the future. First on the agenda: New committee chairs. Deb Richards and Jen Slothower agreed to share this position and Kathy Abramowitz will continue to work with the committee. Deb will be overseeing the Blue Jays (K-2) programming. Jen will oversee the Eagles (3 – 5). See below for an overview of their programs this coming year. This summer, we have planned two swimming party/potlucks. The first will be at the Slothowers (slothower@cox.net ) on June 21st. The second will be at the Nowells in August, date and time to be determined. |

2008-2009 Curriculum Blue Jays (grades K -
2) will focus on the culture of children. They'll celebrate holidays, learn
games, make crafts and food and listen to the stories children in Botswana and
China and Mexico might know. Eagles (grades 3 - 5)
will learn about the cultures of other countries, too, - but they will also
have an introduction to many of the religious traditions in different parts
of the world. To supplement their studies, parents are encouraged to use the
book One World, Many Religions by Mary Pope Osborne. This book can be
obtained through our church, at Amazon.com and through the public library. Both of these groups
meet during the church service. Middle School/ Jr Hi Students will meet twice a month to study seven different religions, and then, approximately once a month, they will visit a different house of worship. They will use World Religions: The Great Faiths Explored and Explained by John Bowker as their reference text. |
